Projects - Eco Centre , City Farm Byker and Steenberg's building , Ouseburn

These buildings form part of the regeneration of the lower Ouseburn Valley , which has been a significant interest since the late 1980s. Steenbergs was a derelict warehouse built by the Co-operative movement at the turn of the century. The scheme involved a mixture of development, studio flats and larger units for Byker Bridge HA and Home HA with a series of workshop/enterprise units at the ground floor street level. Across the road at Byker Farm the Eco-centre was intended to be the first point of visitor contact on entry with offices and interpretation space in this timber framed building. Subsequently the farm closed for a period and after major site restoration the original building has been added to by others.
